Why a weekly trend and not daily weight
Daily weight can move for many reasons that have nothing to do with long term change. A weekly trend helps you look at the pattern over time instead of one noisy reading.
This can be useful if you are tapering, have stopped, or are maintaining after a GLP-1 medication. The app will not interpret the number for you. It will simply show the trend so you can track what is happening and bring questions to your prescriber or care team.
If eating feels hard, talk to a clinician.
How the regain band works
The regain band is an adjustable visual range around your recent weight trend. If a weigh in moves into that band, the app can help you notice it earlier.
- It tracks weekly weight trend, not a daily score.
- You choose the band width.
- It is meant for observation, not decision making.
- It does not calculate doses or tell you what to do with medication.
Some people like a weight regain tracker because it keeps the focus on patterns they can discuss with a clinician, not on isolated weigh ins.
What the band is not
The band is not a diagnosis, a warning of failure, or a promise that anything will stay steady. It does not replace medical care.
It also does not set a target, judge progress, or recommend a change in eating, activity, or medication. Those decisions belong to your prescriber or care team.
What the data says about regain after stopping
In the STEP 1 extension of semaglutide 2.4 mg, participants had lost 17.3% of body weight by week 68. A year after stopping, they had regained 11.6 percentage points of it, about two thirds.
In SURMOUNT-4, adults who completed 36 weeks of tirzepatide and were then switched to placebo gained 14.0% of body weight from week 36 to week 88. Those who continued tirzepatide lost a further 5.5%.
These studies do not tell you what will happen for any one person. They do show why some people want a simple way to watch for regain patterns over time.
