Medical disclaimer. This page is for tracking and education only. It is not medical advice and it never recommends doses. Talk with your prescriber or care team before you change, lower, or stop any medication. Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound are named only to describe what readers search for.
Weekly weight trend and regain band
The app will show a weekly weight trend, so you can review the direction of change over time instead of focusing on single weigh-ins. It will also let you set an adjustable regain band, which may help you notice when your pattern moves outside the range you chose.
If you want the details, see weight trend and regain band.
This is a tracking tool only. It does not tell you what your weight should be or what to do with your medication.
Protein and fiber targets
The app will let you set protein and fiber goals from your body weight so you can keep a simple record in one place. A joint advisory from ACLM, ASN, OMA, and TOS notes that the adult RDA for protein is 0.8 g per kg of body weight per day, and that higher suggested targets of 1.2 to 1.6 g/kg per day have been discussed during active weight loss. It also says it is unclear whether to calculate from actual, adjusted, or fat free mass.
Protein alone is not enough without strength training. If you have kidney disease or a clinician set limit, follow your clinician. For fiber, the app will focus on food tracking rather than a gram target. Adults are encouraged to eat more fiber rich foods such as vegetables, beans, fruit, and whole grains, and to increase fiber slowly while drinking water.
See protein and fiber targets for the full feature summary.
Strength log
The strength log will be a simple place to record your sessions and notes. It is designed to support the app’s goal of helping you keep track of resistance work alongside weight and food patterns, with an aim of 2 to 3 sessions a week shown in the app.
To see how it will work, visit strength log.
The app will not coach technique, choose exercises, or judge progress. It only records what you enter.
Taper timeline
The taper timeline will only record the dose steps you type in. It will not calculate doses, validate entries, or suggest a taper schedule, and it will not tell you when to start or stop medication.
That keeps the feature focused on notes and history you can review with your prescriber or care team.
Appetite check-in
Each week, the app will offer a simple appetite check-in from 1, quiet, to 5, loud. Some people may find that helpful for noticing changes in hunger or fullness over time.
If eating feels hard, talk to a clinician. The app will not diagnose why appetite changed or tell you how to respond to it.
What the app does not do
Ballast is a tracker, not medical advice. It will not recommend a dose, a dose change, a taper plan, or any medication decision. Those choices belong to your prescriber or care team.
The app will store data on your device, with no account. You will be able to export and delete everything. It will also have a free tier and an optional Pro subscription, with the price shown in the App Store purchase sheet once the app is live.
It does not promise outcomes, and it does not replace your clinician.
